Pedal Point Scales

Practicing scales is more fun and beneficial if you practice them in ways that scales are used in songs. One such practice technique is called “pedal point”. A pedal point is a note or notes that repeats in a phrase. If the root of a scale is used as a pedal point, the quality of the scale is heard and memorized more easily. Also, cool licks and riffs are produced in the process. Here is how a scale is played using pedal point:
